Lycra, also known as elastane or spandex, is a highly stretchable synthetic fabric that can expand to 5-8 times its size. While it's the same material regardless of name, it's rarely sold alone. Instead, it's blended with fabrics like cotton or polyester to enhance their elasticity. Just 10% lycra can double the stretch of a textile. This makes Lycra popular in form-fitting garments, including various undergarments for both men and women.
